Jason Paez is the Managing Partner of Belstone Capital, a merchant bank based in New York that advises and invests in privately held businesses. At the firm, he is responsible for overseeing Belstone's execution and technology strategies as well as empowering a culture of innovation and long-term value alignment. Since founding the company in 2010, Jason has sought to consistently grow the firm's ability to take substantial risk on behalf of partners and to improve industry practices related to both internal and external financial incentives. He was the early architect for Belstone's market intelligence and deal distribution technologies, and he works closely behind the scenes of nearly all of Belstone's transactions.

Jason has spent the past 15 years identifying and engaging with teams at the forefront of new innovations. He began his career in the sciences working under molecular geneticist Günter Blobel, who went on to win the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1999. Subsequently, he joined the investment banking department of Merrill Lynch & Co, and later, UBS, where he worked on dozens of transactions advising both operating clients and private equity sponsors. Jason also has significant experience in government and national politics, having served on the National Finance Committee for a previous presidential administration as well as having advised White House, Treasury and Commerce officials on matters of innovation and private capital markets.

Jason holds a B.A. from Columbia University where he studied Economics and East Asian history. He is a technology lifehacker, extreme sport enthusiast, and world traveler with more than 40 countries under his belt.

Bryan Rand is a Partner and Head of Transaction Execution at Belstone Capital. Mr. Rand has over $14 billion of finance, structuring, and negotiation experience across 28 completed transactions including mergers & acquisitions, equity financing, leveraged buy outs, joint ventures, and debt financings, including high yield, investment grade and convertible offerings.

Prior to joining Belstone in 2010, Mr. Rand helped launch Brightwood Capital Advisors where he worked with a team of 3 other executives to successfully purchase a $200mm + portfolio of distressed credit from a major Wall Street investment bank. Prior to this, Mr. Rand worked in New York City in Credit Suisse’s control private equity investing affiliate, DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, as well as in the firm’s investment bank. At Credit Suisse, Mr. Rand advised and invested in entrepreneur-driven growth businesses, Fortune 1000 corporations, and financial sponsor portfolio companies.

Mr. Rand is an M.B.A. graduate of the Harvard Business School where he was a Credit Suisse Fellow. Mr. Rand also graduated magna cum laude from Morehouse College with a B.A. in German Studies and a B.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He also holds his FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses. Mr. Rand serves on the boards of Vacation Innovations, LLC and Avala Dental Providers.

Brenton Partridge is the Chief Technology Officer of Belstone and is responsible for designing and implementing software systems and machine learning strategies to power Belstone's vision for the private capital markets. Brenton is the chief architect of Belstone's core data stream infrastructure, designed to enable agile development of data pipelines that distill structured and unstructured data into real-time actionable insights for our partners and execution team that would be impossible without a software-focused approach.

Brenton's background is in designing systems that learn from large amounts of data, and display results as quickly and effectively as possible. Prior to Belstone, Brenton performed research in probabilistic machine learning at Harvard University with the Harvard Intelligent Probabilistic Systems group. There, he focused on distributed inference algorithms running on hundreds of cores, uncovering underlying physical properties from terabytes of images. He has also worked on small teams to design and develop full-stack web applications at Microsoft and Bloomreach, both of which involved suggesting purchases based on consumer behavior.

Brenton graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on autonomous robotics and machine learning. He is excited to apply his technical knowledge and strategic thinking to change corporate finance and help Belstone's partners to grow.
